Gwen Vogel
Class of 1995

Gwen Vogel graduated from Parker High School in 1995. She was a member of the National Honor Society and student council. Active in athletics, Vogel, an American Legion Award winner, lettered ten times in basketball, soccer, and volleyball. Vogel graduated from University of Iowa with a BA (1999) in Psychology and from University of Denver with a MA (2001) and Doctorate (2004) in Clinical Psychology.
Currently, Dr. Vogel is a published international clinical and forensic psychologist who is in private practice and on the faculty of the International Disaster Psychology Master’s program at the University of Denver. Her published works are in the areas of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and trauma recovery in Africa.
Dr. Vogel also lectures extensively on a wide range of topics in Refugee Mental Health and Staff Welfare and has provided expert testimony in the areas of immigration, PTSD, child abuse, criminal mitigation, fitness to practice, sex offense specific, and competency to stand trial.
Dr. Vogel also works as a Veteran’s Administration consultant and is responsible for providing psychological evaluations and non-medical psychological assessments to service members. In this role she offers psychological assessments, traumatic brain injury evaluations, offsite support and consultation through the service member’s cycle of deployment.
In the humanitarian arena, Dr. Vogel is the co-founder and director of field operations for SalusWorld, a Colorado based international non-governmental organization. This non-profit organization is committed to promoting human rights and alleviating unnecessary human suffering by offering mental health training and providing capacity-building support to local organizations in crisis-impacted areas of the world and psychological support to aid workers impacted by disasters and stressful deployments. Her other international work experience includes long-term consultancies with Doctors Without Borders (Nigeria), The Center for Victims of Torture (Liberia), and training and capacity building trips to Thailand, Burma, and Bosnia.
