Application for Tutoring Services
VIC is Parker High School's tutoring program. VIC stands for Victory In Classes and is modeled after our Viking Mascot. The goal of the program is to provide tutoring help for students in a variety of content areas. The FREE program meets from 7:10 to 7:40 am in the LMC every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
Tutors are available in Art, English, Spanish, French, German, Global Studies, US History, Biology, Chemistry, Economics, Physical Science, Algebra I & II, Geometry, CAT, Core Math, Psychology/Sociology and more.
The program is designed to provide tutoring help for those students who are in danger of failing one or more courses. It also assists students who just want to be more successful academically.
Who Does the Tutoring?
Parker students who have been trained to tutor in a variety of subjects assist students.
What Are the Expectations?
Tutees MUST

Bring all study materials to each tutoring session

Demonstrate a willingness to learn and a desire to be part of the tutoring program

Attend sessions regularly and promptly

Demonstrate mature and appropraite behaviors

Follow all school policies as written in the student handbook
Parent/Gaurdians

Encourage prompt attendance

Communicate with regular classroom teacher, son/daugters and VIC coordinator
What are the Goals of VIC?
- To increase student achievement in areas such as Science, Reading, Math, Social Studies, and Writing
- Better transition from ninth graders who are struggling
- To help each tutee build self confidence and self esteem
- To help each tutee build skills to work independently
How Long Does the VIC Program Last?
Tutees are encouraged to develop study strategies so that they can independently learn the material. The tutors and VIC Coordinator will work with the student to transition student out of the program as they progress academically.
Tutees will be dropped from the program if they have three unexcused absences.
How Can I Enroll?
Recommendations for enrollment can be made by teachers or parents. The VIC Coordinator will review recommendations and organize an informational meeting for tutors. Tutors would make a one-year commitment and would attend a week-long training session.
How Do Tutors Benefit?
