Forensics

What is Forensics?

Forensics is an exciting, challenging, and fun activtiy that teaches public speaking,, acting and interpretive reading.  Students work either as individuals or in groups.  The school, as a team composed of numerous "entries", competes against other schools at meets that are held around the state.  A meet consists of three rounds in which you present your speech or piece and then a power round (finals) for those at the top of their category.  There are also competitions purely based on personal achievement and progress, as well as other forms of competition such as student congress or debate (which are both closely linked with forensics).

Who can be involved in forensics?

Anyone and everyone looking to improve their communication skills, to meet people from all over the region, or to have fun with awesome team-mates, and be a part of one of the best activities in school!

What events are there?

Forensics is divided into sub-groups.  For more information about any of them simply click on: speech events, interpretation events, student congress or debate.

When does forensics take place?

Forensics meets start in late January and the state meet is in early April.  Meets are usually on Saturday, so it blends well with other activities, even sports!  Debate meets are in the fall.

How can I get involved?

Mrs. Braem and Mr. Devine are the coaches. Mrs Braem teaches AP Psychology and is in Room 1116, while Mr. Devine is a science teacher found in room 2109.
